Root Canal and Restorative Treatments

Root Canal and Restorative Treatments

Root canal treatment (endodontics) treats the inner part of the tooth: the pulp and root canals. When the pulp is inflamed or infected, this treatment can save the tooth and relieve pain.

When root canal is needed

  • Deep decay that has reached the pulp.
  • Cracked or traumatised teeth with pulp damage.
  • Repeated infections or abscesses in a previously treated tooth.
  • Severe discolouration or other signs of pulp involvement.

Treatment steps

  1. Examination and X-rays to assess the tooth and roots.
  2. Local anaesthesia and isolation of the tooth.
  3. Removal of infected pulp and cleaning of the root canals.
  4. Filling and sealing of the canals, then final restoration.
